“I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.” Alex swayed against Everett hard enough to make him lose a step

“Oh shut up.”

“You won!”

“I did.” His face turned a bit more pink. “But I mean there weren’t that many entries so-” A hand snatched the back of his collar, this time fully taking his balance. The force sent him crashing against the other, left him no choice but to grab on to his shirt to keep from falling. “Are you trying to kill me?” Everett shouted, trying to ignore the burning of his face in the freezing cold.

“Why are you trying to ruin a perfectly good accomplishment?” Alex raised an eyebrow. Close. There was not nearly enough room between them as there should be and Everett, Everett’s hands were still cawing onto his friend’s shirt.

“I- Uh.” He scrambled to move away, to put some distance between them, but Alex held him there, waiting for an answer. Everett’s eyes went everywhere but his friends face. Alex’s, though, burned a hole right through him, watched from there still far too close proximity. He had to realize how awkward this was, right right? Except, how would he know? It’s not like Alex saw him that way, he probably didn’t even consider…

But then he was pushed back, freed from his hold. “Just, stop putting down everything you do for once, yeah?”

Oddly, Alex wouldn’t look at him when he said it.
