“Hey, I’d date the shit out of you if you wanted me to!”
“Really?”
“Yeah!”
“… I want you to.”
Giggling slightly at her drinking companion’s annoyed face, Morrigan took another gulp of her drink. It was odd for them to be doing something like this without insults being thrown between them but over the past few months, their relationship had stopped being so hostile and had become almost friendly though they still made fun of each other. Sometimes, flirting was even thrown into the mess that was her friendship with Lycos.
Not that she regretted it. He was cute even with his aloof nature and it was fun to watch him turn pink at some of her more…inappropriate lines. He always came back with ones that made her blush in return, so it was all good. Rarely, usually after a night of drinking, did she wonder what it would be like to date him. Cause she could admit, if only to herself, that she was crushing on him.
It was the memories of all the times she’d thought about him in a romantic sense combined with the alcohol in her system that prompted her to lean in closer to him and say something. “Hey, I’d date the shit out of you if you wanted me to!”
He stared at her, wondering where that declaration had come from. He knew she was most likely drunk, considering they’d been steadily working their way through several bottles of wine, but she’d never been the type to say any old thing that came to mind, even when drunk. Morrigan had always, for as long as he had known her, thought her words out carefully.
“Really?” he questioned her.
“Yeah!” She nodded her head vigorously before wincing at the ache that came after.
Lycos snorted softly before wondering to himself why she had said that. Yes, they flirted with each other. Yes, they made inappropriate insinuations that caused Gwen to stutter and turn bright red.
Yes, he trusted her more than he did anyone else in their household.
Yes, he might’ve had a bit of a crush on her since they’d stopped being so antagonistic to each other. Yes, he was sure that she had a crush on him. But that didn’t mean they wanted to date each other. Did it?
It did, at least for him.
A soft smile crossed his face as he admitted for the first time that yes, he did want to date her.
“…I want you to,” he replied in a soft voice, barely above a whisper.
Morrigan blinked slightly at his reply. Not because she hadn’t meant what she said because she had, but Lycos was notoriously closed off about his feelings, about everything if she was being honest. Add in the fact that they argued like cats and dogs on a good day and were both slightly drunk, you could see why she was slightly surprised by the boy’s softly whispered answer.
Lycos, on the other hand, watched the auburn haired girl slowly turn slightly pink as what he had said fully registered with her. He really shouldn’t have said that, the discomfort in his stomach told him that much.
